Argyll CMS is one option, but it seems to be three steps up in complexity, and I have several questions that are holding me back from going that route. I've been using the X-Rite i1Studio software, including its special B&W mode, and it seems to produce pretty good profiles. Keith, as typical, you're a generous and helpful expert community member. I know quite a few people make use of my B&W test image which has various target versions for measurement.
